About the Role:

Clubs and societies are the heart of the University of Sydney student community and this rewarding role involves managing a small team to deliver the program in conjunction with the Clubs & Societies Coordinator and student casual positions.
The Clubs & Societies Manager is a valued member of the student programs team and manages communication, processes, approvals, administration and regulations related to the 200+ registered clubs and societies on campus.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team
  • Student engagement
  • Customer service
  • Budget management
  • Project management
  • High level administration

This role would be ideal for someone looking to work in a rewarding environment and further develop their people and program management skills.

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications/sector experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Management/Administration or relevant related experience

Knowledge, skills and competencies

  • Supervising and managing a team
  • Customer service
  • High level administration
  • Program/project management
  • Stakeholder management including from differing backgrounds
  • Budget management, reporting and accounting practices
  • General understanding of University environment
  • Excellent written, verbal communication/listening/problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management/organisation skills
  • Computer-based administrative systems, particularly Microsoft suite of applications and database platforms

Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the University of Sydney, The University of Sydney Union and its activities
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills in the Events Perfect Event Management System
  • Understanding of USU Clubs & Societies Program
  • Experience in working in a not-for-profit organisation
  • Experience working with young people and in youth affairs
  • Current provisional or above NSW Driver’s license

Annual Salary:

$75,000 + 9.5% Superannuation


  • An $11 meal card per day worked
  • 17.5% Annual Leave Loading
  • A complimentary ACCESS card giving discounts on and off campus (valued at $75 per year)
  • Generous paid leave entitlements including 4 additional paid grant days per year
  • Ongoing paid training and development
