Reporting to the Operations & Events Manager, with a dotted line to the Head of Marketing, the Marketing Coordinator is a key role in supporting the HostCo and Operations teams with day-to-day marketing tasks and related administration including but not limited to: building brand awareness, driving engagement across various channels, executing and deploying marketing content and campaigns, the key liaison between the USU and marketing agency/ies.



We are a not-for-profit organisation focused on students at the University of Sydney. The revenue we generate through our commercial operations, functions and events is used to support students and create experiences they will remember for a lifetime. You will be playing an integral role in this through working closely with our clients and assisting our events to run smoothly.



  • Developing, promoting and executing marketing and lead generation activities, nurturing communications and events, and managing the social media strategy with a firm target to grow the existing platforms.
  • Coordinate and create communications using different channels including printed event marketing collateral, email, social media, web, blogs as well as manage Google Ad and SEO strategy (executed by external agency) and manage video and photography shoots and edits.
  • Deliver relevant, creative and innovative copy and content to enhance engagement and development of online communities and audiences connected to the brand.
  • Develop briefs for design assets, photography, video and other media, ensuring all material is brand aligned and meet objectives



  • Marketing or Communications degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years’ experience in a marketing role, ideally in hospitality and/or events
  • Ability to create and implement relevant and engaging content and implement effective initiatives
  • Proven ability to drive leads to meet business targets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge and experience using eDM platforms, website management applications, Microsoft Office and Adobe CS including Photoshop
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure, plan workflow to meet deadlines, and be proactive in problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to be self-managed and work independently
  • Superior writing skills and the ability to develop high quality first drafts
  • High level of attention to detail
  • High degree of professionalism and a positive, enthusiastic attitude

Desirable Skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of the USU and HostCo
  • Experience using Email marketing platforms such as Campaign Monitor and Event CRM platforms such as Ivvy would be beneficial
  • Experience with Google Analytics and ability to make recommendations based on results
  • Experience managing relationships with agencies
  • Familiarity with web-based content management systems (CMS)
  • Knowledge and understanding of youth markets
  • Ability to analyse metrics and create reports
