WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS ROLE
This is your chance to shape the heartbeat of campus life. From Welcome Fest and cultural festivals to revues, debates, and flagship student events, you’ll create experiences that thousands of students look forward to every year.
You’ll combine strategy and creativity with hands-on leadership – building a calendar of events that’s inclusive, sustainable, and unforgettable.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Lead and inspire a passionate team delivering events, programs, and festivals across campus.
- Oversee flagship student experiences including Revues, Palladian Cup, Welcome Fest, and more.
- Develop and manage the annual Student Experience Calendar, ensuring events are inclusive and responsive to the diverse student community.
- Deliver Tier 1 events in partnership with USU teams, University stakeholders, and student leaders.
- Gather feedback, track outcomes, and introduce new initiatives to keep events fresh, relevant, and exciting.
- Manage budgets, reporting, and identify new income opportunities to keep programs sustainable.
- Build strong relationships with students, faculties, venues, and the University community to ensure seamless delivery.
- Ensure all events are safe, compliant, and aligned with USU’s strategic goals.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 3+ years’ experience in event and project management (student, youth, or community focus ideal).
- Proven ability to manage large-scale events from concept to delivery.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and inspiring a team.
- Strong budget management and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- A creative, solutions-focused mindset – you thrive on improving, innovating, and adapting.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends during major events.

ABOUT THE USU
The USU (University of Sydney Union) is proudly Australia’s oldest and largest not-for-profit student organisation, dedicated to providing students with the best possible university experience.
Led by a student board elected by our members, the USU provides fun things on campus, such as festivals, events and parties. We manage a diverse range of programs, including an active volunteering program and a Language Exchange, to name a few. In addition, we support over 200 Clubs and Societies as well as operate bars, food and retail outlets across campus, providing great coffee, affordable fresh food, graduation gown hire and official USYD merchandise.
