WHO WE ARE

We are Australia’s largest and oldest Student Union. We are about students on Campus. As the primary provider of coffee & food on campus, we have a wide range of cafes and quick service venues that include our own Food Truck & Coffee Van.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Membership Ambassador plays an important role in driving membership acquisition for the USU by actively engaging with students, sharing membership experiences, and creating a sense of belonging within the USU community. This role involves promoting the value of membership through sharing stories, enthusiastic participation in USU events and activities, and encouraging student involvement in USU programs such as Clubs and societies.

As a champion of the USU culture, the Membership Ambassador embodies the organisation’s values, leads initiatives that inspire engagement, and serves as a trusted voice for prospective and current members. By cultivating meaningful connections, the ambassador supports the growth of the membership base while enhancing the overall member experience.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Outgoing and Approachable: A natural ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Confident in public speaking and one-on-one interactions, with the ability to inspire and persuade.
  • Team-Oriented: Willingness to collaborate with peers and staff to achieve shared goals.
  • Creativity: Ability to think outside the box to engage students in fun and innovative ways.
  • Passion for Community Building: Genuine enthusiasm for USU’s mission and student life.
  • Digital Savviness: Comfortable using social media and online tools to promote USU membership

 

DESIRABLE CRITIERIA

  • Current USYD student or recent graduate (preferred).
  • Prior involvement in USU clubs, societies, or programs (desirable).
  • Experience in promotions, sales, or customer service (preferred but not required).

THE PAY

$33.40 (inclusive of 25% casual loading) per hour + 12% Superannuation 

 

HOURS OF WORK

The shifts are predominantly Monday-Friday, with the occasional weekend shift where required.

The USU (University of Sydney Union) is proudly Australia’s oldest and largest not-for-profit student organisation, dedicated to providing students with the best possible university experience. 

Led by a student board elected by our members, the USU provides fun things on campus, such as festivals, events and parties. We manage a diverse range of programs, including an active volunteering program and a Language Exchange, to name a few. In addition, we support over 200 Clubs and Societies as well as operate bars, food and retail outlets across campus, providing great coffee, affordable fresh food, graduation gown hire and official USYD merchandise
