WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS ROLE
As the Volunteer Programs Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of USU’s student experience. You’ll coordinate and grow a dynamic volunteering program that engages students, supports major events, and creates opportunities for local and international students to get involved on campus.
You’ll combine operational excellence with creativity – managing recruitment, training, scheduling, and recognition, while fostering a vibrant community for volunteers.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Lead and manage USU’s student volunteer program, including recruitment, induction, training, scheduling, and deployment.
- Develop engaging volunteering opportunities across campus and the wider community.
- Coordinate communications with volunteers through newsletters, social media, and direct updates.
- Support and mentor volunteers, ensuring they feel valued, motivated, and connected.
- Organise volunteer rosters and provide on-site leadership at major events.
- Maintain and improve program databases, processes, and administration systems.
- Assist in budget management and program planning to ensure sustainability.
- Ensure all volunteer activities and events are safe and compliant with WHS and relevant policies.
- Gather and respond to volunteer feedback to continuously improve the program.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years’ experience coordinating volunteer programs, preferably in a youth or student environment.
- Experience recruiting, developing, and mentoring volunteers.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft/Google suite and database management.
- Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating programs.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings when required.
- Current NSW Driver’s License and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
